Top end of the range. Differs from the Syrah in the use of only new oak, for 14 months. Quite savoury, Belgian chocolate, black plums and cherries, cigar box, some espresso and liquorice notes adding richness and dark-toned complexity. The palate is succulent, there are no edges, it’s streamlined and sleek, the gentle grip at the end speaking of food compatibility and some ageing potential. Has that combination winemakers strive for, concentration without losing the supple texture, the oak in perfect partnership.
